Herstorically, many cultures included grief rituals as part of their rites of passage, to be able to grieve what we are losing so that we can more fully step into what is next, which in this moment in time includes our aligned activism for the future we wish to co-create. Our ritual will include small group sharing, music supported ritual space, embodiment and space for the Mystery.

We open to the Holy Dissolve through the cycle of birth, life, death and decay of ghost pipe. Through ritual enactment, plant anointment, meditative dissolve, butoh and group movement we allow the forest consciousness to guide us into deeper presence and to land into the unfoldment of the weekend.

A journey into the womb of Mother Earth, which through a steam bath used in traditional medicine with hot stones and medicinal plants, allows us to purify our being in various aspects such as physical, mental, and spiritual and guided with the breath, chanting and sounds of the earth helps to transform our energy to live as a new rebirth. Bring a sarong or dress to enter the temazcal. If you like, bringing a swimsuit underneath is optional. Bring something to dry off with, and another change of dry clothes. If you have any element or instrument of power such as a drum, amulet, rattles or medicine to offer to the fire, bring it for them to use.

This is a preparatory for the evening Menopause ceremony and a continuation of the medial/matriarch conversation from the day before. In a Menarche Reclamation, we step back in time to the moment of our first bleed and reclaim the sacred threshold that menarche is meant to be. Many of us received negative programming and were bathed in shame instead of celebration, the echo of which can still reverberate – in big and small ways. This ceremony offers a way to re-pattern and reprogram our inner maidens through ritual and appropriate honoring, helping to clear the echo and re-whole ourselves as fully embodied women. (Especially potent work for moms of maidens who are approaching that threshold.)

Stream Adventures & the Mystery of Japanese Knotweed

At Kids Camp, we’ll explore the many uses of Japanese Knotweed—an edible, medicinal, and survival-friendly plant—and turn its hollow stems into handmade pan flutes. With our nature-made instruments, we’ll create a joyful song of gratitude for the moms and the village. We’ll also search the stream for wishing rocks, river jade, garnets… and maybe even find a little gold!

Closing the Bones

A rite of passage rooted in ancient postpartum traditions, the Closing of the Bones ceremony is a ritual of completion and renewal. It honors the end of a cycle, and gently gathers the energy that has been dispersed. Through intentional wrapping of the body (with rebozos) and presence, the ceremony helps “close” the physical, energetic, and emotional spaces that were opened. This creates a container to rest, integrate, and emerge anew. A rebirth of the self, wrapped in reverence. Kid Friendly.

A closing ceremony for reflection, integration, and gratitude through prompts, sound healing, and song. Participants will harvest insights from the weekend and offer them back to the Earth and waters in a final act of blessing and reciprocity.

Whether you are currently navigating an active grief portal or simply wanting some personalized support in accessing your grief, we offer a space for you to receive 1:1 and/or small group grief support. This is a space to be present with the medicine Grief Shrine and lean into the support of our grief tenders. Many tools will be available including story sharing, touch, song, prayer, sacred witness, simple elemental rituals, and a “telephone to the beyond.” This is an open flow space for you to come and go as you need.
